The massive 76,500 hectare reserve is a joint venture between the state, the community and the private sector, which has breathed new life into a beautiful but economically depressed region. Royal Madikwe accommodates a maximum of 10 guests on an exclusive basis only. The same contrast of natural tones against a unique fusion of modern and comfortable furnishings is integrated in five open-style suites, each with it's own distinct setting and complete privacy.

Indoor meets outdoors with each spacious air-conditioned suite flowing into it's own elevated game-viewing deck to blend into the African landscape. Guests can enjoy the exclusivity of a private pool, game viewing deck, spacious interiors, fireplace, en-suite bathroom and and inside and outside shower.

Luxury Twin Suite

Luxury Kiddies Suite

This additional kiddies suite accommodates four children and is located in the main lodge. Special features include: Double Room with en-suite bathroom (for private staff - Nannies / Butlers / Pilots travelling with guests)

Each day is designed entirely around the guests' preferences with the guidance of experienced staff whose commitment to personal interests and desires allows flexible safari experiences.

Early morning and sunset game drives in an open vehicle, led by an experienced ranger and tracker, are highly recommended to explore the superstars of the African bush. Guided bush walks provide the ultimate experience to get up close and personal with Mother Nature whilst appreciating the opulence of the bush in the footsteps of the animals.

Wildlife

Bask in Mother Nature's beauty, enchanting sunsets and magical animal kingdom.

A special feature of the Madikwe Game Reserve lies in it's quintessential location, a transition zone on the edges of the Kalahari, where a number of diverse habitats occur naturally.

Encapsulating rare solitude, tranquillity and intrinsic beauty, the imposing landscapes of amazing diversities flaunts vast bushveld plains and open grasslands rich with indigenous vegetation, interspersed with rocky outcrops and single mountains.

This prime game-viewing land is home to 66 large mammal species with an abundance of Africa's Big Five (including both white and the endangered black rhino), herds of antelope, smaller game and vibrant birdlife counting more than 350 resident and migrant bird species. Madikwe also boats a viable and thriving population of Wild Dogs - one of Africa's most endangered carnivore breeds.

The reserve is one of the very few malaria free safari destinations and has a generally mild to hot climate, with overnight temperatures dropping in winter. Madikwe Game Reserve is an exclusive sanctuary draped in calm where guests can experience the vibrancy of Africa's spirit while interacting with nature as never before.

Herds of Buffalo and Elephant, prides of Lion, the illusive Leopard, and great antelope roam the 76 000 hectare Madikwe game reserve, which is one of the finest places viewing Wild dog in the world. Cheetah, Brown Hyena, Spotted Hyena, White Rhino, Black rhino and Giraffe provide fantastic sightings. Other interesting Mammal species such as Gemsbok, Kudu, Impala, Eland, Springbok, Klipspringer, Red hartebeest, Zebra, Warthog and smaller antelope species occur in the area. Smaller species include rock dassie, African civet, genet, bush baby, porcupine, and aardvark.
